Margin of votes narrows between Vargas and Ericksen

11-12-2018

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — With an estimated 34 votes left to count and two weeks before certification, Whatcom County appears to have reelected Sen. Doug Ericksen and Sen. Luanne Van Werven, but not Sen. Vincent Buys.

Only 72 votes currently separate State Senator Ericksen from Vargas, with Ericksen still clinging to his lead.

Republican Representative Luanne Van Werven still leads Democrat challenger Justin Boneau by about 131 votes, while Democrat Sharon Shewmake increased her lead over incumbent Vincent Buys to 941 votes.
