SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — Washington gun shop owners expect an increase in sales after state voters approved an initiative that adds restrictions to the purchase of semi-automatic rifles.
Voters last week passed Initiative 1639, which next year will raise the legal age to buy semi-automatic rifles to 21 and requires training and a waiting period.
The Seattle Times spoke to one gun shop owner in Bellevue who said, “People will buy guns to beat the deadline.”
Their story has reports from several store owners throughout King County that report slight upticks in sales.
