EVERETT, Wash. — A Lynden man described as homeless was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in Everett Monday in the beating death of his father’s friend.
The Everett Herald reports 40-year-old Kyle Randall Wheeler is suspected of assaulting and strangling 52-year-old Charles P. Hatem at a downtown apartment before leaving him to die in the hallway with his brain swelling.
Police say Hatem was staying with Wheeler’s father, which upset Wheeler and an argument over the living situation led to the assault.
Wheeler made his first court appearance in Snohomish County Tuesday.
