BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Graffiti of racial epithets, homophobic slurs and threats of sexual violence found throughout Western Washington University’s campus is now cleaned up, and security has stepped up patrols.

WWU President Sabah Randhawa called the vandals “cowardly individuals” and said hate speech has no place on the school’s campus.

The graffiti was first reported Sunday and found on the Wright’s Triangle sculpture, on posters in Red Square, and in Nash Residence Hall on multiple name tags and in the stairwell.

University police are investigating and believe it to be the work of one person.
