BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham man was booked into jail on 11 charges related to two separate incidents in which he harmed his ex-girlfriend.

The victim reported last Thursday that she believed her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Vincent Deal, who she had a restraining order against, had broken into her home in the Birchwood Neighborhood and stole several items.

Two days later, police found Deal had kidnapped the victim after forcing his way into her home, breaking her nose and strangling her multiple times, and while driving off with her he hit a restaurant sign on Northwest Avenue right by Squalicum Creek.

The victim escaped when Deal crashed, and police say Deal left the scene to hide under a nearby porch where they arrested him.

Charges currently include burglary, domestic violence assault, felony harassment, kidnapping, felony violation of a no-contact order, hit and run, and driving while license suspended.
