FERNDALE, Wash. — The City of Ferndale finally went through with plans to eliminate left turns on Main Street between the southbound I-5 on-ramp and Labounty Drive.
Public Works closed the street on Monday while they installed plastic traffic delineators along the center line so drivers can no longer turn left into or out of the North Sound Center – or Grocery Outlet – parking lot.
While the city says data showing the area as a hot spot for crashes motivated this change, many residents are frustrated over the traffic restriction along an already clogged artery.
The city says further improvements are planned for early next spring.
