SEATTLE, Wash. — An interactive map from the Northwest Avalanche Center shows “high” avalanche danger in the North Cascades near Mount Baker, leading the organization to issue an official avalanche warning for the area.

The agency does not recommend travel in avalanche terrain on the western slopes of the mountains from the Canadian Border south to the Skagit River.

The map shows lesser avalanche dangers on the eastern slopes of the north cascades as well as all areas of the central cascades, but still ranks the avalanche risk there as “considerable.”
