BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man who fired a crossbow at Bellingham Police at a park south of Bellingham was arrested and treated for injuries.

Police say 46-year-old Micah James Godfrey of California was threatening people with a machete near Arroyo Park Sunday afternoon and later fired a crossbow bolt at responding officers.

A Bellingham officer and Sheriff’s deputy returned fire, hitting Godfrey.

No bystanders or law enforcement officers were hurt.

Old Samish Way between 30th Street and Chuckanut Drive was closed for nearly a day while crews investigated the scene.

Godfrey faces several charges of felony harassment and attempted murder.
