OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — It’s now illegal in Washington for people under the age of 21 to buy a semi-automatic rifle.
That part of a firearms measure passed by voters in November took effect yesterday.
The measure will also toughen background checks for people buying assault rifles and require safe storage of all guns.
Those parts of the law take effect in July.
Gun rights advocates are challenging the law in court.
