BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man is facing serious charges after deputies say he held his ex-girlfriend hostage and assaulted her in an abandoned house on Bennett Drive near Bakerview early Sunday.
Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks says the woman agreed to meet 39-year-old Francis N. Perry when he said he needed to talk.
She said he was nice at first but then became aggressive and threatened to kill her.
He smoked meth and then said he was going to buy beer, giving her a chance to send a text asking for help.
Parks says Perry refused to follow orders from responding deputies but was eventually taken into custody after injuring a sergeant’s thumb.
