DEMING, Wash. — The Mount Baker School District is taking action after tests found lead in water fixtures at two schools.
Superintendent Mary Sewright says in a letter to the district that the Department of Health came to test their schools’ drinking water last fall and results came back positive for lead on numerous fixtures at MBJH and MBHS.
Some sinks and other fixtures used to prepare food also tested positive for lead.
The district is now working with the Department of Health to replace the fixtures, which have been taken out of service, while students and staff are being provided with alternative sources for water.
