BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham’s fire chief announced his retirement.
The City of Bellingham announced that after thirty years of service, Chief Bill Newbold will retire effective March 15, 2019.
Mayor Kelli Linville says an interim fire chief will be appointed in March until the City conducts a search for a permanent fire chief and Chief Newbold said he would support the transition in whatever way he can.
Newbold says he is excited to start his retirement years with his family, but is sad to leave the work environment at the City.
