OLYMPIA, Wash. — Governor Jay Inslee has launched the “Maritime Blue 2050 Initiative,” which his office says is the first initiative of its kind to support innovations in the maritime industry.
Inslee says the goal is to help create living-wage jobs, protect the environment and insure sustainability for maritime industries.
Inslee has appointed an Advisory Council that presented goals including deep de-carbonization of the industry, supporting working waterfronts, developing a 21st century workforce and creating a global innovation hub.
He says that compared to other states, the initiative will help Washington coordinate all sectors of the maritime industry in the state to create cutting edge projects.
Maritime activity has long been a pillar of our economy, and we are uniquely positioned to lead the country in maritime innovation. Through the Maritime Blue 2050 initiative we can adopt new practices and clean technologies while creating living-wage jobs.https://t.co/IPQuVpbrZE
