Preliminary work on Hannegan and Smith roundabout scheduled

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Survey work is scheduled to begin next Monday for the construction of a roundabout at Hannegan and Smith Road.

Whatcom County Public Works expect there to be significant delays there while they partially close the intersection while they do geotechnical work.

The department is designing a multi-lane roundabout improvement project they plan to begin in the summer of 2021.

Unless weather cancels the survey, lanes in and around the intersection will be closed and the signal will be flashing red in all directions on Monday, February 4, from 8 AM to 4 PM.
