BELLINGHAM, Wash. — As cold weather hits, local homeless shelters are preparing to fill up.
The City of Bellingham has a plan to work with local service providers to ensure shelter is available for those in need.
They say they’ve been in close communication with both Lighthouse Mission and Fountain Community Church shelters over the last few days regarding availability and if they reach capacity, they plan to set up an overflow shelter in city facilities.
The City is also working with the tent encampment behind City Hall to make sure residents are safe.
