BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Port of Bellingham and the Lummi Nation reached an agreement they hope will bring a new era of cooperation and economic prosperity.
In a joint press release, they report that they came together to address long-standing issues about the habitat changes to Bellingham Bay and Drayton Harbor, instead of going to the courts.
They then crafted an agreement which gives the Lummi Nation moorage for their fishing fleet in Squalicum and Blaine Harbors, and also allows the Port of Bellingham to “maintain and modernize its in-water facilities.”
