BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The weather outside is still frightful and while skiers and snowboarders are thrilled, drivers are having a tough time.

Whatcom County’s 911 dispatchers urge people to use caution when driving in these conditions as they’ve received reports of drivers north of Bellingham getting stuck in snow drifts.

Meanwhile, the Mount Baker Ski Area reported that they’ve gotten 29 inches of snow in the last 24 hours and they are expecting at least another 6 inches.

The National Weather Service predicts the snow to taper off as warmer temperatures bring rain.

Despite a brief closure Tuesday the Bellingham International Airport was open all night and so far all flights are expected to be on time.
