BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Another emergency shelter opened in Bellingham amid the week of freezing temperatures.

City staff partnered with the Bellingham Police Department to open a shelter at the Maritime Heritage Park pavilion on Tuesday night.

Mayor Kelli Linville signed a proclamation stating an emergency throughout Bellingham due to the winter storms that began on February 8.

The Bellingham Police Department and Bellingham Fire Department are helping transport unsheltered people to local shelters or PeaceHealth Hospital as needed.
