BURLINGTON, Wash. — A new brand mark will be slapped onto agriculture products grown in the Skagit Valley in an effort to promote local producers.

Port of Skagit Executive Director Patsy Martin announced the new brand strategy called Genuine Skagit Valley, at the Skagit Ag Summit on February 8.

She told the Skagit Valley Herald the goal is to get the word out about the distinctiveness of the products grown in the Skagit Valley while also helping farmers market their products.

Producers can use the mark for $250 a year as long as 75 percent of their product’s defining ingredients come from the area.
