OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — With just two weeks before Daylight Saving Time begins, Washington’s Legislature is advancing two proposals that would keep us there.
Both proposals would opt the state out of twice-yearly clock shifts, putting us out of sync with our neighbors for about four months of the year.
Foregoing Daylight Saving Time is allowed under federal law, which Hawaii and Arizona have done, but it puts them out of sync for eight months, and Congress currently has laws prohibiting making Daylight Saving Time permanent.
