BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham Police have made an arrest in the fire February 18th that destroyed Hohl Feed and Seed.
Deputy Chief Flo Simon says surveillance video shows two people entering an alcove between Hohl’s and Clark Feed and Seed next door at about 3:35 a.m.
They left the alcove at 4 a.m., then another person ran back in to grab belongings.
The call reporting the fire came in at 4:20 a.m.
Tips generated by the surveillance video led officers to an individual who told them 57-year-old Paul J. Wolfe started the fire in a chimney to keep warm and it spread to the upper floor of the building.
Officers arrested Wolfe Wednesday, February 27th, for first degree reckless burning.
He’s described as a transient.
The fire destroyed the historic building on Railroad Avenue but most of the small animals in the store were rescued.
No people were injured in the two alarm fire.
