BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Another member of the Bellingham City Council has announced that she’s running for mayor.

April Barker says in her announcement that she’s a progressive champion who has worked for criminal justice reform, alternative transportation options, countering climate change and offering more housing choices while on the council.

She lives in the Birchwood neighborhood with her husband and two children and has served on the City Council since 2016.

Council member Pinky Vargas has also announced a run for mayor.

Current mayor Kelli Linville says she’s not running for a third term.
