OLYMPIA, Wash. — After months of bandying about the idea of a presidential run, Governor Inslee threw his hat into the already crowded ring.

He is the first governor to join the race, but with six prominent senators already in the pool and a few other big names considering a run, Inslee will likely have a tough time garnering attention.

The 68-year-old Democrat has been highly critical of President Trump and since becoming governor in 2012 has tried multiple times to pass carbon emission caps and taxes, but these proposals have repeatedly failed with voters.

Inslee admits he’s the underdog, but says climate change is a “unifying issue.”.
