BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The “juror scam” is still alive and well in Whatcom County and the Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure residents stay alert.

On their Facebook, the Sheriff’s Office says a friend of a Whatcom County Superior Court Judge got a call from a man claiming to be a deputy.

The imposter had a spoofed number which appeared on her caller ID as the Sheriff’s Office and told the woman there was a warrant for her arrest for missing jury duty and told her to wait in front of the courthouse with $800.

The victim called her friend, the judge, who assured her that law enforcement and courts don’t make calls like this.
