OLYMPIA, Wash. — Governor Jay Inslee’s travel during the early stages of his run for president is drawing criticism for the security costs.
A Republican state senator from Auburn is among those calling for Inslee to reimburse the state for those costs.
Inslee tells the Seattle Times that state law requires the State Patrol to provide security for the governor and he won’t change that.
While Inslee’s campaign pays for his flights and hotels, the state picks up the tab for his security detail.
