BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Pasta laced with marijuana sent two people to the Student Health Center at Western Washington University after a group of unidentified people served it at a local protest without the participants’ knowledge.

WWU Communications Director Paul Cocke told the Bellingham Herald that university police are investigating the incident that occurred at the “Boycott Aramark” protest in Red Square on Friday.

Shred the Contract, the student group leading the protest, said on social media that unaffiliated community members served the food and they did not know it contained pot until later.

The group hopes to end the university’s affiliation with Aramark, a food services provider for colleges, hospitals, stadiums, correctional facilities, and more.

According to the campus newspaper, the culprits identified themselves as members of Bellingham’s Alternative Library.
