BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham woman has become the first woman hiker to complete the “Triple Crown” in less than a year.
KING 5 reports that Heather Anderson is the first woman to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, the Continental Divide Trail and the Appalachian Trail within a calendar year.
She completed the 8,000 mile feat last November and was named National Geographic Adventurer of the year.
This was actually the third time Heather has completed the Triple Crown.
Only five others – all men – have done it within the same year.
