FERNDALE, Wash. — Although the school bond passed and some of Ferndale High School will be torn down, the historic Old Main building may be allowed to remain.
Ferndale Mayor Jon Mutchler posted on his Facebook Saturday that while Old Main, built in 1936, can no longer accommodate the daily impacts of roughly 1,500 students and staff, it may be able to handle being the new City Hall.
City planners and administrators will do a feasibility study to see whether repurposing Old Main is doable and make sure that a remodel of the 83-year-old building would not cost more than a new development project.
