BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Mount Vernon semi driver was injured after troopers say he went off I-5 near North Lake Samish, forcing another car off the road as well.

The State Patrol says just after 6 PM Wednesday Jody Vanputten was driving southbound on I-5 when he crossed the center line at a curve.

The semi went off the road and came to rest on its side in a ditch.

Two Anacortes women were driving on the left side of the semi and were forced into the ditch, but neither of them were hurt.

Troopers are investigating and they don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
