SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) — After asking for the public’s help, a man considered armed and dangerous who was charged in a violent knife attack near Seattle was arrested.
The King County Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old Daniel Varela was arrested by the U.S. Marshals task force.
The sheriff’s office says he was found sleeping in a Kennewick park thanks to an anonymous Crimestoppers tip.
The Seattle Times reports Varela was charged with assault in King County Superior Court.
Prosecutors say Varela stabbed a man multiple times and slit his throat.
King County sheriff’s spokesman Ryan Abbott says the 55-year-old victim “pulled off a miracle” by surviving the attack.
