MARBLEMOUNT, Wash. — Skagit County reissued an application for a rock mine in Marblemount last Thursday.
The application proposes mining nearly 4 million cubic yards of rock on a hill southwest of the town.
The Skagit Valley Herald says the proposal has been opposed from those who live in the area who are worried about safety and environmental impact.
Several tribes, environmental groups and utilities such as Seattle City Light have also raised concerns.
Public comment on various permits for the proposed project is open until May 13.
