Ninth whale of the year washes up on Washington shore

OCEAN SHORES, Wash. — A necropsy is planned for a gray whale found beached at Ocean Shores.

KOMO reports this is the ninth stranded gray whale recorded in Washington so far this year, which is higher than usual.

Last week a juvenile gray whale was found dead in Elliot Bay.

Despite increased strandings NOAA says the population is doing better than ever.
