YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A federal judge in Yakima will hear arguments today in two cases brought by Washington and a reproductive rights group against new Trump Administration rules that could cut off federal funding for health care providers who refer patients for an abortion.
Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson says that if the rules take effect next week as scheduled they would cut low-income womens’ access to care such as contraception and cancer screenings.
A federal judge in Oregon this week said he will at least partially block the new rules in response to a separate lawsuit brought by 20 states.
