ORCAS ISLAND, Wash. — Travelers, vacationers, and adventure seekers made a huge wave of reservations for summertime ferry trips in the Puget Sound.

The Department of Transportation released the first tier of summer vehicle reservations Tuesday morning for the Port Townsend-Coupeville and Anacortes-San Juan Islands-Sidney, B.C. routes.

Nearly 16,000 reservations were made in only the first hour — over twice as much as they recorded last year.

The agency says they will release their second tier of reservations at 7 AM two weeks before your sailing date and the third tier two days prior.
