FERNDALE, Wash. — A Ferndale man wanted for suspected rape was detained at the Lynden border crossing this weekend.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers apprehended 55-year-old Willie Orlando Lawton III after he attempted to come back from Canada Sunday evening.
Officers looked up his name, and found he was the subject of a warrant out of Skagit County on suspicion of four crimes including the rape of a frail elder or vulnerable adult.
He was booked into the Whatcom County Jail.
