CONWAY, Wash. — The multi-vehicle freeway accident in Skagit County on Tuesday morning left one person dead and several others injured after a box truck hit a van and was engulfed in flames.
The State Patrol says that box truck driver Steve Beltran of Tulalip was southbound on I-5 near the Conway exit but failed to stop for slowed traffic and caused a chain reaction crash around 5:30 AM.
A man driving a van that was the first vehicle hit by the box truck was pronounced dead at the scene and troopers say two others were taken to the hospital for their injuries.
The crash snarled traffic for roughly six hours.
