BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham just won an award for our popular summertime concert series.
Washington Main Street, overseen by the Department of Archaeology & Historic Preservation, gave Downtown Bellingham their Outstanding Promotional Event award for Downtown Sounds, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this summer.
The free concert series started in an alley in 2005 and now takes up two full city blocks in the middle of downtown.
For five consecutive Wednesdays in July and August, Downtown Sounds showcases local bands, food and beer while fostering community and encouraging creative use of space.
