BELLINGHAM, Wash. — With the early bout of warm weather in the Pacific Northwest comes warnings about leaving dogs and other pets in hot cars.
Closed vehicles can become very hot even on what seems to be a pleasant spring day.
KOMO reports a car with its windows partially open can still heat to 120 degrees within 30 minutes when the outside temperature is 85.
It is illegal for citizens to break a vehicle’s window to rescue a distressed pet.
You’re urged to take the vehicle’s information and call 911 if you’re concerned about a pet’s condition.
