SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — Sedro-Woolley is moving forward with plans for an on-campus health center at their high school.

The Sedro-Woolley School Board voted unanimously to allow Superintendent Phil Brockman to draft an agreement with PeaceHealth to open a health center at SWHS.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports the idea is to have a walk-in clinic where students can receive treatment for injuries, infections or illness as well as physicals, immunizations and mental health referrals.

Health center staff can also prescribe medications to students, and provide contraceptives.

School Board President Christina Jepperson praised the plan, saying that for students, “it opens access to education about their bodies, about medications, about self-care, and gives them a chance to practice interviews with a provider about their medical history.”
