BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Schools’ Executive Chef will serve on a newly formed national advisory board focused on school nutrition.

The Institute of Child Nutrition created the advisory board to assist in the development of their new School Nutrition Culinary Institute.

Bellingham Schools’ Executive Chef and Director of Food Services Patrick Durgan will serve on the board alongside 20 other culinary professionals that work with school nutrition programs nationwide.

Durgan says being part of the national conversation will keep the Bellingham school district at the forefront of innovation and best practices in school nutrition.

According to their website, the ICN was founded in 1989 after Congress passed the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act, and they are funded by the USDA.
