OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington state farmers have committed to plant significantly more hemp than in the previous two years.
Capital Press reports that farmers intend to plant more than 6,000 acres after the plant was taken off the federally controlled substances list and Governor Inslee signed legislation clearing away other state obstacles.
Last year Washington’s hemp crop was just 140 acres grown on the Colville Reservation.
Hemp can now be grown in Washington for CBD oil.
