BLAINE, Wash. — Officials say a “human smuggling network” used Peace Arch park in Blaine to smuggle people from China into Canada.
The park spans the U.S.-Canada border into Douglas, British Columbia.
KOMO reports smugglers allegedly took Chinese emigrants who arrived in the U.S. on travel visas to the park and walked them across into Canada.
According to a years-long investigation by the Canadian Border Services Agency, the human smuggling network used the park to bring as many as 1,000 migrants into Canada from the United States.
