ANACORTES, Wash. — Some Skagit County residents are being asked to reduce their water consumption because of low flow in the Skagit River.

The City of Anacortes and Skagit Public Utility District issued a notice Monday asking customers to voluntarily save 15-20 gallons of water a day.

They say there are generally two times a year that the Skagit River falls below minimum instream flow levels set by the Washington State Department of Ecology — once in late winter/early spring and again in late summer/early fall.
