FERNDALE, Wash. — Downtown Ferndale has a colorful new mural that can now be seen in an alley off 3rd Avenue, across from Chihuahua Family Restaurant.
The Ferndale Arts Commission with building owners Ted and Dale Scharbco commissioned the piece, designed by artist Brenda Goddard-Laurence.
It’s a sweeping landscape showing water, trees, a valley and a distant mountain under a sunny sky.
The Arts Commission plans to install at least one more commissioned mural in downtown Ferndale this summer.
They’re also coordinating a volunteer alley mural project, funded by a grant from Whatcom Community Foundation, and they’re looking for volunteers to help.
Volunteers can sign up on the City of Ferndale’s website.
