BIRCH BAY, Wash. — Volunteers and locally-based businesses came together over several months to make improvements to a camp by Birch Bay for people with disabilities.
At Camp Horizon, Americorps National Civilian Community Corps volunteers worked with eight businesses and put in more than 3,300 hours to improve accessibility, repaint dorms, renovate the sidewalk, and work on other beautification and maintenance projects.
Windermere Real Estate sent in nearly 100 volunteers for its annual Community Service Day to help upgrade the fire pit and build bed-risers.
Lions Camp Horizon is a non-profit that provides social and recreational experiences with numerous one-week-long camp sessions.
Additional support came by way of in-kind service and material donations from: Cadman Inc., Cowden Gravel & Ready Mix, Lil Scoop Bobcat Inc., Mt. Baker Mobile Mixing, Peterson Construction, and Smith Gardens.
