BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham is among the top ten cities for population growth in Washington where migration rather than native birth leads the overall growth.

The Washington State Office of Financial Management released numbers Friday showing the population grew by about 119,000 people in the last year, with the total state population topping 7.5 million.

Of those people, 76 percent migrated here, while children born in the state accounted for only 24 percent.

Seattle has seen the most overall growth.

Franklin County had the fastest rate of growth from 2018-2019 (2.31%), followed closely by Whatcom County (2.25%).
