MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — The state Department of Transportation is cutting down more than a hundred trees along a highway in Marysville to restore a salmon habitat.
The Everett Herald reports the trees are being cut down and a dike will be breached near Highway 529 to create an estuary to benefit fish.
The department is teaming with the Tulalip Tribes and other organizations as part of its $16 billion Connecting Washington program.
2. Treetops and roots will be scattered to create micro habitats; the buffer along 529 will disappear, @stephrdavey reports https://t.co/QXn60qaZbY
