BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Bellingham Police arrested a man suspected of attacking a taxi driver earlier this month and leaving the victim with serious injuries.
Patrick Charles Olberg was arraigned Friday for multiple counts including a drive-by shooting outside Kulshan Brewing on June 28th and attempting to elude police July 4th.
He was arrested and bailed out in both cases before the July 5th assault of the taxi driver.
Witnesses in the taxi told police Olberg was using racial slurs against the driver, who is black, and became belligerent about the fare as they neared his house.
The driver got out of the taxi and told Olberg to get out as well when they reached his home, at which point witnesses say Olberg tackled the driver to the ground and began attacking him.
The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center for his injuries.
