BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Melvin Brewing is now 100% locally owned and a name change is in the works.
Bellingham resident Gary Pickering told the Bellingham Tap Trail he’s taking over the brewery and restaurant located in the Fountain District on Meridian Street.
Pickering says that the business will be changing, likely in August, to have an entirely new brand — including new menu items and new beer.
He does, however, plan to keep the same staff.
Melvin, whose headquarters are in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, established a Bellingham location in 2017.
They faced significant public backlash and boycotts after people said the company “made light of sexual misconduct” and abuse in their menus and online including a comment section titled “Show us on the doll where Melvin Brewing touched you.”
The outrage reached a fever-pitch when news about sexual misconduct accusations in Bellingham against a veteran brewer at the company came to light.
