SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The decision of whether a former student should be tried as an adult for shooting four classmates at a Spokane high school is now in a judge’s hands.

Closing arguments were held yesterday in a weeklong hearing for Caleb Sharpe, who is accused of killing one classmate and wounding three others in the 2017 shooting at Freeman High School when he was 15.

A prosecutor argued that releasing Sharpe from custody at age 21 was not appropriate.

A defense lawyer argued that his client lacked maturity and good decision-making skills, but had never caused problems before.
